Sam Haskell In Hot Water
NEW YORK, N.Y. (WCBI) – The most famous man from Amory may have some explaining to do.
Sam Haskell, the CEO of the Miss America pageant, is quoted in a Huffington Post article as using demeaning and vulgar language to describe former pageant winners.
In a series of emails, obtained and published by the Huffington Post, Haskell body shames a former Miss America and uses vulgar terms to describe the same pageant winner. The emails target several former winners over the years.
The Miss America pageant’s formal statement says the organization is aware of the correspondence and offensive language. The organization says their internal investigation found Haskell was under stress during the years he wrote those emails.
Dick Clark Productions, the television partner for Miss America, has dropped the affiliation, based on the published emails.
Haskell, an Amory native, spent years as a popular and successful agent for the William Morris Agency. He has been with the Miss America Organization since 2005. Haskell is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He and his wife have a home in Oxford.
