Safety is Key when Shooting off Fireworks
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – New Year’s Eve is Tuesday, and that means a lot of North Mississippi residents will be shooting off fireworks to ring in 2014.
Local firefighters say there are ways you can have fun and be safe.
– Follow the directions and safety labels on your fireworks.
– Only use them outside away from homes, dry grass and trees.
– Keep a bucket of water nearby.
– Have an adult present when shooting them off, and keep a safe distance away from others.
Fireworks are illegal in some cities, like Columbus, so it’s best to check with your local fire department to see if that’s the case where you live before shooting them off.
