Running on Natural Gas
PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI)-What if you could fill up at the pumps for 1.99 again? Vehicles operating on natural gas can. Yesterday, in Rankin County N-G-A Solutions announced the opening of the first commercial fueling station for vehicles that run on natural gas and the cost? Just a $1.99 a gallon. Pontotoc Mayor Jeff Stafford is hoping to convert at least five city vehicles that will run on compressed natural gas. Using $60,000 in state loan funds he plans to build a fueling station in Pontotoc for city vehicles. Cities, like Pontotoc, are taking advantage of zero-interest loans from the state, a program created in 2012 to help pay for vehicle conversions. Currently there are 1,000 commercial natural gas fueling stations in the country. It’s estimated 12,000 will exist by 2015.
