Ruling Expected In Detained Missionary Case
(STARKVILLE) (WCBI) New details on a local nurse practitioner being held in a Macedonian jail on smuggling charges. A Macedonian judge is set to rule Wednesday whether Candi Dunlap will be jailed or allowed to return to the United States.
Macedonian Customs agents have now also released pictures of hundreds of coins and two pieces of pottery they claim the OCH Regional Emergency room staffer attempted to leave the country with. Dunlap has maintained since her September arrest the coins were given to her by a Macedonian citizen she met while in the country as part of a mission team from Meridian.
According to the state run newspaper, Government officials doubt that a Macedonian citizen would willingly give up state artifacts they claim are worth millions of dollars on the black market. The article also says Dunlap could be held in Macedonia for an extended time unless she surrenders the name of the citizen who gave her the artifacts.
