Rule Changes in College Football
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Soon he will share the field with some of the greatest athletes in America, but Thursday (8-22) Southeastern Conference referee Stan Murray addressed the Columbus Exchange Club.
Murray has been wearing the stripes for 27 years.
He spoke about preparing for games, and how each official is graded on every play.
This year, refs must keep a very close on eye on collisions above the shoulder pads of defenseless players.
If you break that rule, you get ejected.
Murray says, ” What they are trying to control is damage from concussions. We will see a lot of that in the open field, on pass plays, kick plays, when a player is in the act of completing a catch or catching a kick.”
Murray’s crew begins its season on August 31st, when the Washington State Cougars visit Auburn.
