Retailers Expect Big Day On ‘Black Friday’

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Retailers across our area are making last minute preparations for the busiest shopping season of the year.

The Mall at Barnes Crossing in Tupelo will have extended hours, with some stores opened Thanksgiving afternoon.

The day after Thanksgiving, known as “Black Friday” typically draws the largest crowds of the year for retailers.

Many stores have special sales for those early shoppers, but mall manager Jeff Snyder says there will be good bargains throughout the day and the next few weeks leading to Christmas.

“Black Friday is a big discount, get out there, the first official day, huge traffic numbers, kickoff and they’re looking for big deals and the deals are out there this year at all retailers,” said Jeff Snyder, manager of the Mall at Barnes Crossing.

J C Penney will open its doors at 2 Thanksgiving afternoon, and stay opened until 10 o clock Friday night.    Many stores in the mall will open at 6 or 7 Friday morning.
