REPORT: Simmons Not Invited To NFL Combine

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi State junior defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons will not be invited to the NFL Combine due to past incidents involving violence.

NFL.com Tom Pelissero reporting that Simmons and Colorado State wide receiver Preston Williams are the only two to be barred, at this point, due to past incidents.

Simmons pleaded no contest with simple assault and disturbing the peace in 2016.

Pelissero also reported that National Football Scouting selects players, but the NFL created criteria in 2016 and enforces the rules by vetoing some selections.

CBS Sports projected Simmons to be a first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
