Rep. Harper to Announce 2014 Congressional Art Competition Winners
PEARL, Miss. (Press Release) — U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper (R–Miss.) will announce the overall and divisional winners of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition at a reception Thursday at the Pearl Public Library. All participants, teachers, and family members are invited to attend this event, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
“Mississippians are surrounded by inspiration for cultural expression. From the mighty Mississippi River to the farmland spread across the Magnolia State, and innovative industries along the way, our state is an artistic crossroads,” Harper said.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of high school students. The overall winner of the district competition will have their artwork displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
