Pushing for Road Revenue
NORTH MISS. – (WCBI) One of the state’s most influential business sectors is about to lean on the Legislature to address what it says is one of the state’s most pressing needs.
Road builders and related businesses will use a popular topic, creating and maintaining jobs.
The T-1 Coalition which is made up of the Mississippi Road Builders Association and others plans to present several options to state lawmakers to provide more funding for state road and bridge maintenance and construction.
They say the state already is falling behind as much as $300 million a year and the problem is only getting worse. Their businesses employ more than 31,000 people in the state. Better roads could help the state attract even more jobs, they say.
