President Trump declares federal disaster for Alabama
LAMAR COUNTY, Ala. (WCBI) – President Trump has declared a natural disaster in Alabama.
The federal declaration is for the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding from February 19 to March 20.
Video showed a barn destroyed in the Detroit area of Lamar County on March 14.
Lamar County was included in the disaster declaration, along with 9 other counties.
EMA Director Luke Otts said there was also a large amount of flooding on dirt roads in Lamar County during that time.
Federal funds are available for local governments and nonprofits for emergency work and repair, along with hazard mitigation measures.
