Possible pay raise for elected county leaders

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Most elected county leaders could soon get a pay raise.

The state House and Senate have passed the legislation, which is on the way to Governor Phil Bryant’s desk.

Chancery Clerks, Circuit Clerks, County Registrars of Election, Tax Assessors and Collectors would all see an increase.

Sheriff’s, County Medical Examiners, and County supervisors would also get a raise.

Senate Bill 2827 would also increase certain fees some of these offices charge to help pay for the costs.
