Police Investigating Local Man’s Death

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The West Point Police Department is investigating a man’s death.

Chief Tim Brinkley says John Johnstone died after suffering what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday.

Brinkley tells WCBI Johnstone was alone when the incident occurred and no foul play is suspected at this time.

Johnstone was taken to NMMC-West Point and died while en route to the Tupelo hospital.

Brinkley says the case is still under investigation.
