COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Columbus police took one one into custody Wednesday evening for a Mississippi Department of Corrections hold after complaints of a suspicious person near several businesses.
Police say the man might be the same man who reportedly entered a Columbus doctor’s office on Hospital Drive on Monday and was seen in a restricted “employee only” area.
After the man was seen in that area, an employee reported items missing from a purse including car keys and cash. The man left that doctor’s office before the items were determined to be missing.
The man was wearing an MDOC ankle-attached monitoring device when taken into custody. ]
Columbus police are examining video surveillance from the doctor’s office in an attempt to identify the man.
At this time, he is being held on the MDOC request while police investigate the incident at the doctor’s office.
CPD has not released the name of the suspect or the doctor’s office.
