TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) -Preparations are under way for this year’s Tupelo Film Festival.
This year’s event is spread out over five days next month. It is the 10th anniversary of the film festival and organizers have extra events planned.
It all opens Wednesday evening, May 15 at the Malco Theatre for a screening of “The Fallen Faithful” with a concert afterwards by local musician Paul Thorn.
Then the event moves to the downtown area for the next few days. Organizers say there are benefits to filmmakers and the audience.
“From a filmmakers view it’s an opportunity to screen their films and in regards to audience , it’s an opportunity for the audience to see films they’ve never seen, they’re independent films and one day they may see it on a commercial screen and say oh I saw that film when,” said Pat Rasberry, director of the Tupelo Film Festival.
The event wraps up Sunday evening at the Malco for a screening of “Muscle Shoals.” For more information go to www.tupelofilmfestival.net
