GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (WCBI) – A month a half after nearly being killed in a plane crash, a Germantown Doctor is finally back home again.
Dr. Kenneth Bird was flying a Cessna 210 over Yalobusha County last month, when he likely ran out gas in stormy weather.
He crashed in the woods near Tillatoba and spent 11 hours in his wrecked plane, before rescuers could get to him.
Dr. Bird underwent surgeries on his leg, wrist and badly broken back.
He credits Mississippi first responders with saving his life and his ability to walk.
Dr. Bird will have to continue physical therapy for another 6 to 12 months, but considering the circumstances, he couldn’t be happier.
