Philadelphia Resident Charged With Insurance Fraud
Jackson, MS—A Neshoba County resident has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of insurance fraud, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.
Phillip Willis, 46, of Philadelphia, has been arrested by the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office following indictment by a Neshoba County Grand Jury on three counts of false pretense. Willis is accused of defrauding four victims in three separate cases of more than $45,000 while doing business as owner/agent of Capital Risk Insurance Company in Philadelphia. Willis is alleged to have taken payments from the victims to cover insurance premiums on their behalf and then never actually doing so, resulting in the victims coverage being cancelled or their having to repay their premium in order to keep from being cancelled.
Willis was booked into the Neshoba County jail. He has been released on bond to await trial.
This case is being investigated by Christopher Watkins and will be prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Larry Baker of the Attorney General’s Public Integrity Division/Insurance Fraud Unit. As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
