‘Peter Pan’ Flies Into Fulton For IAHS Annual Theater Extravaganza
FULTON, Miss. (WCBI) – A well known musical plays in one Northeast Mississippi city this weekend, with a young cast and crew.
The IAHS Indian Players are bringing “Peter Pan” to the stage of the Fulton Grammar School.
A cast and crew of more than 80 have been working on the production for five months. The musical is based on J M Barrie’s story on a young boy, who wouldn’t grow up. Victoria Blake directs the musical.
“These kids they just warm my heart and I love them all so very much, I wouldn’t do this if they didn’t put 110 percent into it,” Blake said.
The production features kindergarten students, to high school seniors.
“With the different ages, we have done a lot of choreography, a lot of singing, so to be able to get a five year old to understand choreography and harmonies of a musical like this is amazing,” said Erin Stanphill, who plays “Peter Pan.”
Cast and crew were unanimous when it came to the biggest challenge for this well known story.
“The biggest challenge is definitely flying,it’s taken a long time to get us to where we are now, but now that we have it down, it’s so fun and so exciting for people to be able to see,” said Sara Grace Boggs, who plays “Wendy Darling.”
“It’s just an awesome fun play, no dull moments, everybody is having a good time and I think the audience will be able to see that,” said Anderson Martin, who plays “Captain Hook.”
Proceeds go back into the IAHS drama department, and also help provide scholarships for seniors.
Peter Pan runs Friday and Saturday night at 7 and there is a Sunday matinee at 2. Tickets can be purchased at the door and they are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
