Person Of Interest Cleared, Reward Offered In Monroe Deputy Shooting Investigation
ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — The reward continues to grow in the developing manhunt for the man who shot a Monroe County deputy.
WCBI also learned, Tuesday, the person of interest in the shooting has been cleared.
Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says deputies spoke with the unidentified man Tuesday morning and released him.
The sheriff also says the U.S. Marshals and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are now involved in the case.
A reward to help find the person who shot deputy Eric Sloan is now up to $4,000.
The shooting happened on Highway 45 Alternate early Monday morning.
The shooter is described as a black man.
He was riding a red sport bike with a wide rear tire and no license plate.
He was also wearing a black helmet with a red stripe.
Sloan has been released from the hospital.
