Pedestrian killed in Hwy 45 hit and run identified

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The young man killed in a hit and run accident in Lee County has been identified.

Coroner Carolyn Green says Jalen Ayers, 19, of Shannon died at the scene.

His body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said several vehicles were involved in the accident.

Ayers was struck in the northbound lane of Highway 45, just south of Brewer Road.

At least one car did stop and help when it was reported about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
