Pastor, Longtime President of Wood Junior College Passes Away

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WCBI) – A longtime minister and educator with deep ties to the area has died. Dr. Felix Sutphin passed away early Tuesday morning at his home in Meridian.

Sutphin, a minister in the former North Mississippi Conference of the Methodist Church, spent 30 years as President of Wood Junior College in Mathiston, leading the school from 1957 to 1987.

A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of the Pines on the former Wood campus in Mathiston Sunday May thirty-first at 3:00

P M. Visitiation will be held beginning at 2:00PM

Dr. Sutphin was 96 years old..
