LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lee County is encouraging its residents to get some fresh air and exercise with their second community walking track.
“It’s awesome! Everybody’s having such a good time and today is a good day.”
Ermer Wright couldn’t hold back her excitement, as The Lee County Development Group opened its second walking track – a first for the Palmetto community.
“We’re glad to have this track because it’s going to help our young people. And I just enjoy it. I walk mostly two or three times a week or more. We’re just enjoying it because we’ve never had one before so it’s a thrill,” said Wanda Hadley.
Bernard Marion says the walking park makes him proud to say he’s from Palmetto. He believes this is just what the community needed.
“I came from school for exercise science so it really makes me feel good about the community having a park here.”
City officials hope the park will not only encourage good health, but family bonding and community pride.
Lee County opened their first walking track one year ago in Shannon.
