Oxford Police Department Find Lafayette Man Dead In Ole Miss Motel

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI)- A Lafayette County man has died after police responded to a welfare concern call in Oxford last night.

Oxford police responded to a room at the Ole Miss Motel located on University Avenue.

Officers found 39-year-old Henry Chandler Jenkins of Lafayette County, Mississippi unresponsive and 52-year-old Daniel Ludie Lassiter of Pennington, Alabama sustaining serious injuries.

Jenkins was pronounced dead on arrival by Lafayette County Corner Rocky Kennedy.

Lassiter was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi to receive treatment and remains in custody of the Oxford Police Department.

The case is still under investigation.
