Online auction benefits Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – There are less than 24 hours left in an online auction benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi.
The auction features sports memorabilia, weekend getaways, artwork , jewelry and many other items.
That auction is part of the annual “Dance Like the Stars” fundraiser, which helps the clubs in Tupelo, Ripley, New Albany and Oxford provide valuable services to thousands of young people every week.
This is the first year “celebrity dancers” have been asked to get items for an online auction as part of the annual fundraiser.
“Leadership of Boys and Girls Club saw this as an opportunity to reach so many people, and prior to the event and they felt like this was something they wanted to try and see how it would go if all of the dancers participated, because we know social media touches so many people, we still love individuals who come to the event, we want everyone to come, but this gives us more exposure and opportunity to raise more money for the Boys and Girls Club,” said Albine Bennett, of the CREATE Foundation, who was a “celebrity dancer” last year and won the fundraising competition.
Bidding ends at 3 p.m. Friday.
Dance Like the Stars is August 24th at the BancorpSouth Arena.
