One-year-old child drowns at Lowndes County home

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A one-year-old drowned Tuesday morning at its Lowndes County home.

The drowning happened at a home on Highway 50 East.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said the 18-month-old was found unresponsive in the family swimming pool, just before 9 a.m.

The sheriff’s department said it will not release any information because the drowning is not a criminal matter.

Merchant ruled the death an accidental drowning.
