One Injured; One Arrested In Tupelo Shooting

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – One person is in the hospital and another in police custody after a shooting in Tupelo Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim at a home in the 400 block of Payne Street around 11:15am.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was suffering from a single gunshot wound and was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center.

A short time later, officers arrested a suspect matching a witness description. Police have not released the suspect’s name.

Police say the victim’s injury is serious, but not life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation.
