COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Pilgrimage is in full swing this weekend and today, a special tour of homes was held for one day only.
Twelve Gables, The Old Homestead, The Cedars, and the Haven were all built before 1850. The homes haven’t been a part of the Columbus Pilgrimage for years but were shown during the very first Pilgrimage back in 1940. This year organizers wanted to show the homes in honor of the Pilgrimage 75th Anniversary.
“The Convention and Visitors Bureau wanted to have a special day that used to be in the Pilgrimage but are no longer in it would be open for this special occasion,” says Rufus Ward, home owner of the Old Homestead.
All of the homes shown on the one-day tour are recorded with the National Register.
