Ole Miss Women Fall to Kentucky
The Ole Miss women’s basketball team fell to No. 10 Kentucky 90-65 Thursday night in the team’s final home game of the year.
With the loss Ole Miss fell to 9-19 overall (2-13 SEC) while No. 10 Kentucky improved to (24-4, 12-3 SEC).
Tia Faleru recorded her fourth double-double of the season, and fifth of her career, with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Danielle McCray also scored in double figures for Ole Miss adding 12 points.
As a team, Ole Miss shot 37.3 percent (22-59) from the floor while Kentucky shot 40.5 percent (34-84).
“I always love senior nights, they are my favorite night of the year. It’s just so much fun to get to honor the players that have been through your program and celebrate all their accomplishments they have had,” head coach Brett Frank said. “Credit goes to Kentucky. I think they are an excellent team and a team that I think will make a deep playoff run.”
Kentucky used a 13-0 run to push its lead to 21-6 with 10:00 left in the first half. The Wildcats extended its lead to 37-18 at the half.
Ole Miss shot 22.6 percent (7-31) from the floor in the first half while Kentucky shot 38.6 percent (17-44). The Wildcats held a 35-17 advantage in rebounding. Monique Jackson led Ole Miss with four points while Faleru led the team with seven rebounds.
In the second half, the Wildcats pushed its lead to 51-31 with 11:59 left to play.
Ole Miss will travel to Arkansas on Sunday for a 2 p.m. tip.
