TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI Sports) – It was the end to a long trend of losing in Tuscaloosa Saturday for the Ole Miss football team.

The Rebels beat Alabama 43-37, snapping a 27-year drought in Bryant-Denny Stadium and beating the Crimson Tide in back-to-back seasons for the first time ever. Ole Miss’ previous highest point total in Tuscaloosa was 27 points.

The game featured five Alabama turnovers and a wild third-quarter touchdown that involved a ricochet off a pass to junior Laquon Treadwell that fell into the hands of junior Quincy Adeboyejo, who ran 66 yards for a touchdown.

Ole Miss led 43-24 with ten minutes remaining when many Alabama fans headed for the exits, but the Crimson Tide came back to come within six. The Rebels held on from there, sealing the win on an interception from junior Tony Bridges.

Ole Miss took a 17-3 lead with 6:43 to play in the first half off a touchdown run from junior quarterback Chad Kelly, who was 18-of-33 passing for 341 yards and four total touchdowns. After leading 17-10 at halftime, the Rebels built a 30-10 advantage with 3:57 to go in the third quarter. 

Cooper Bateman and Jake Coker both played at quarterback for Alabama, combining to go 32-of-59 for 288 yards and three touchdowns, but also three interceptions. Running back Derrick Henry had 127 yards on 23 carries with one touchdown.
