Ole Miss Prepares For New Gameday Parking Pattern

OXFORD, Miss. — As Rebel Nation makes plans for the first home game of 2013 on Saturday, fans should be mindful of the new parking plan, which delivers on the promises of inclusiveness, safety, convenience and gameday experience.

Those seeking to park on campus must have obtained a season parking pass through the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation. These passes will have a designated parking lot and/or parking stall in which the pass holder should park. These passes are the only way to park on campus.

Shuttle Service

For those without a season parking pass, a new improved shuttle system has been implemented to park and ride from off campus. Shuttles will run from five locations – Oxford Mall, Whirlpool parking lot, Oxford Activities Center, Oxford Middle School and Oxford Conference Center.

Shuttle service from the Oxford Mall and Whirlpool parking lot is free and runs from 5:30 a.m. until two hours after the game. Postgame transportation will break during the one-way exit period, which lasts until an hour after the end of the game. The Mall shuttle will deliver passengers to and from Paris Yates Chapel, and the Whirlpool shuttle will route to the Turner Center.

Shuttles from the Activities Center, Middle School and Conference Center will be $5 round trip per person and starts three hours before kickoff until two hours after the game’s conclusion. Drop off and pick up will be located off Gertrude Ford Parkway, just northeast of the stadium. Postgame runs will commence immediately following the game without break.

Parking is free at the shuttle lots. Prohibited items on shuttles include coolers over 40 quarts; weapons or firearms; oversized strollers; oversized bags or items; tents; open or exposed alcoholic beverages; and pets.

Traffic Flow

To enhance traffic efficiency after the game, all roads leaving Vaught-Hemingway Stadium will be changed to one-way traffic until one hour after the conclusion of the game.

Shuttle service to the Oxford Mall and Whirlpool parking lots will leave immediately after the game, but due to the one-way traffic will not be able to return to the stadium until an hour after the end of the game. Shuttles from the Activities Center, Middle School and Conference Center will run continually.

Grove Dropoff/Pickup

At The Grove, fans will be allowed to drive in and drop items off up to approximately three hours prior to kickoff or until campus security deems it no longer safe for traffic on Grove Loop. At that point, there will not be any traffic allowed to go through The Grove.

Following the game, vehicles will not be allowed to enter campus until one hour after the game. At that point, loading zones will be available on Grove Loop with a 15-minute limit per vehicle.

Fans are allowed to leave The Grove or campus and return to their parking lot at a later time but are reminded to be mindful that traffic in and around campus will only get busier as game time approaches.

ADA Accommodations

ADA/HC season passes will be sold in the ADA/HC section of the south lot. These passes will be on sale only to people who require such assistance as location and shuttle to the stadium. ADA spaces in donor lots around campus will be on sale only to those qualifying via a state issued ADA or handicap placard. If spaces are not sold out for the season, they will be sold on a game-by-game basis to those who require such assistance. There will also be a shuttle providing ADA services for those fans without a reserved space.

It is important to note the spaces in the south lot are not “ADA compliant” from the standpoint of the size and spacing of the stalls. Spaces in the south lot have been set aside in addition to the standard ADA spaces on campus. This is important to note in the event a fan shows up with a specially equipped vehicle that requires additional space to operate lifts or get walkers, carts or passengers in and out conveniently.

Other Key Points

Residence hall (dormitory and fraternity/sorority parking) parking is reserved for those students who live in that hall.
