Ole Miss Details Henderson Suspension Terms

UNIVERSITY PRESS RELEASE

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss announced details of senior guard Marshall Henderson’s suspension on Tuesday.

Henderson will be suspended for the Rebels’ exhibition game Nov. 1 against South Carolina-Aiken and season opener Nov. 8 versus Troy. In addition, Henderson will miss Ole Miss’ first two Southeastern Conference games Jan. 9 versus Auburn and Jan. 11 at Mississippi State.

The suspension is a result of Henderson’s total conduct during the 2012-13 season, SEC and NCAA Tournaments, and his behavior since the end of the season.

Statement from Marshall Henderson

“I want to thank Coach Kennedy, Ross Bjork and the university for giving me an opportunity to rejoin the team. This has been a difficult time for me, and I appreciate this chance. My teammates and I are looking forward to defending our SEC Championship.”

Statement from Head Coach Andy Kennedy

“I support this decision, and I am thankful to our leadership for allowing Marshall the opportunity to earn the right to rejoin our team. Marshall has been compliant with the process put in place for him since his suspension in early July, and we look forward to him being back on our team.”

Statement from Athletics Director Ross Bjork

“We are proud of the growth Marshall has shown since July as he continues to make positive strides towards earning his degree and having a great senior season. Student-athlete welfare is the centerpiece of our core values and we will continue to support Marshall and all of our student-athletes in their mission to achieve their full potential on and off the court while holding them accountable at the highest level. With this announcement, we are shifting our focus to our team and defending our SEC Championship. “
