Ole Miss, Crimson Tide Players Named On Watch Lists
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Less than eight weeks until opening day for the 2016 college football season, and Watch List season has begun to highlight some of the top players to look for this season.
The NCAA released their 2016 watch lists for the Maxwell and Bednarik awards.
Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly is listed as a potential Maxwell winner, aftering combining for 41 total touchdowns in the 2015 season.
Rebels safety Tony Connor and defensive end Marquis Haynes were listed on the Bednarik award watch list as well.
The Alabama Crimson Tide had six players total chosen for these awards, starting with tight end OJ Howard and wide receiver Calvin Ridley make the Maxwell list.
Alabama’s defense also represented well, with safety Eddie Jackson, defensive end Jonathan Allen, linebacker Reuben Foster, and linebacker Tim Williams all can be found on the Bednarik watch list.
Southern Miss quarterback Nick Mullens and running back Ito Smith make the Maxwell list.
No Mississippi State Bulldogs were listed for either award.
The John Mackey award for nation’s best tight end and the Rimington Award for best offensive center Watch Lists will be released tomorrow, July 6th.
