Ole Miss Adds Top 150 Men’s Basketball Player for 2015
OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI/Ole Miss Athletics) – Ole Miss added another top-150 high school player Tuesday, as head coach Andy Kennedy announced the signing of Donte Fitzpatrick to a national letter of intent.
Fitzpatrick, a Memphis, Tennessee native, joins Rasheed Brooks and Terence Davis in the Rebels’ fall signing class for the 2015-16 academic year.
A talented and athletic guard from Southwind High School in Memphis, Fitzpatrick ranks as the No. 5 overall player in Tennessee and 49th in the southeast region by ESPN.com. The 6-4, 175-pounder is ranked 113th in the nation by 247 Sports and 137th nationally by Rivals.com. With the ability to play both guard positions, Fitzpatrick averaged 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists while being named to the All-District 15 AAA first team and to the TSWA All-Region team last year.
“Donte is a very versatile guard, who has the ability to help us at either backcourt spot,” Kennedy said. “His creativity with the ball will allow him to create action for himself as well as his for his teammates. Donte has a very high ceiling!”
Fitzpatrick played this summer with Team Penny, a nationally renowned grassroots basketball program in Memphis, where he played a vital role in leading his squad the finals of Peach Jam. He chose the Rebels over offers from Arkansas, Memphis, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
