Oktibbeha Supervisor Pushes Road Bonds Again

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Oktibbeha County supervisor Orlando Trainer isn’t giving up on his push for the county to issue bonds to improve county roads.

Trainer has brought the idea of a large bond issue for road construction up twice this year, only to have it rejected by other supervisors. This week, Trainer lowered the amount to $3 million, hoping to swing support. He’s previously suggested $9 and $6 million issues.

Trainer says the county is getting less bang for its buck with its annual road program as costs go up.

He says the $3 million could be financed without a tax increase and would represent an investment against rising costs.

Supervisors may again discuss the idea later this fall.
