Oktibbeha Coroner Faces DUI Charge
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Oktibbbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt is free on bond tonight after being picked up for DUI Thursday afternoon in Lowndes County.
A state trooper spotted Hunt driving carelessly on Highway 82 around 4:30 Thursday afternoon. After the traffic stop Hunt was then also charged with driving under the influence. He was released Thursday evening on a One thousand seventy five dollar bond.
WCBI talked with Hunt Friday afternoon and he said he would issue a statement about the arrest on Monday. He added he was not in his county owned vehicle at the time of his arrest. Oktibbeha County Board President Orlando Trainer says he was not aware of Hunts arrest until contacted by WCBI and could not comment on any action the board might take in connection to Hunts role as coroner.
