STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The Oktibbeha County nightclub that was the scene of a shooting last month, will stay closed for now.
A circuit court judge had to postpone a nuisance hearing Monday for Club Rock, since the owner, Larry Fair, didn’t have a lawyer.
Right now the Rock Hill nightclub is under a temporary restraining order.
Only Fair and his sister can be on the property.
Sheriff Steve Gladney says five people were injured in a shooting at the club last month, and he’s worried about retaliation.
Gladney says he wants the club closed for good, since it’s a public safety concern.
“There were 20 plus shots fired – houses right across the street, people in the bed at night asleep, so that’s a huge concern for me,” Gladney said. “Not only that, we’ve got parking problems. If you had a fire, the fire truck, the ambulance couldn’t get down the street, so there’s a lot of issues that we’re dealing with.”
The nuisance hearing likely won’t happen until late May or June.
After that, the case will move to chancery court for a permanent restraining order.
Investigators still haven’t made any arrests in the shooting.
