Off-duty officer stabbed, man killed in road rage fight
HORN LAKE, Miss. (AP) – Police say an off-duty officer was stabbed and another man was fatally shot after a road rage dispute between them escalated in Mississippi.
News outlets report the Memphis, Tennessee, police officer is in critical condition after the altercation Tuesday evening in Horn Lake.
Horn Lake police say the Memphis officer was off duty when he and the other driver became angry and stopped at a Walgreens parking lot. Police don’t believe there were other people inside the two cars.
Capt. Joseph Keene says the man confronted the officer over the road rage and stabbed him in the neck. He says the officer shot the man in the chest with a handgun. Police didn’t identify either man.
Horn Lake is Memphis suburb roughly 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of the city.
