Noxubee Sheriff’s Son Arrested

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A routine traffic stop ends with the arrest of the son of Noxubee County’s sheriff.

Akeem Olajuwon Grassaree, 25, of Macon, is being charged with possession of cocaine, a felony and a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession.

Grassaree was pulled over Monday morning on Highway 45 South by Lowndes County Sheriff’s deputies because he didn’t have a tag on his vehicle.

Deputies say he consented to a search.

That’s when agents from the Lowndes County narcotics department discovered the drugs under the passenger seat.

Grassaree was arrested at the scene. He has posted bond.
