Noxubee County Chancery Clerk repays thousands of dollars

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – No good deed goes unpunished, so they say.

Now, the Noxubee County Chancery Clerk is repaying thousands of dollars.

Mary Washington was ordered to repay tax money meant for county use.

The state auditor issued the demand this past September.

In December, Washington paid $19,735 to the Noxubee County Board of Supervisors.

The auditor’s office confirmed the payment from the investigation and said more money should be issued soon.

The illegal charitable donations to churches took place from January 2010 to December 2012.
