North East Mississippi Electric Power Association CEO Retires
OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – After 23 years on the job, North East Mississippi Electric Power Association’s General Manager and CEO is hanging up his hard hat.
A retirement reception was held for Bob Collier in Oxford on Thursday evening.
The north Mississippi native has seen tremendous growth at the cooperative, that now serves nearly 24,000 customers.
The company’s service area includes Lafayette, Marshall, Union, Pontotoc, and Benton counties.
NEMEPA has also helped recruit new industries to the area.
Collier says the utility has changed how it operates, by installing underground lines and reading meters.
“23 years ago we read all the meters with the meter read and they came to your house once a month. Today we can read your meters on a computer by just pressing a button. So, it’s amazing what technology has done,” said Collier.
Keith Hayward will replace Collier.
