North Alabama Teacher Suspended Over Sex Claims

VINA, Ala. (AP) – Franklin County schools officials say a teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student has been suspended with pay.

WAFF-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1cOV22e) 35-year-old Vina physical education teacher Sonny Tibbs is the target of a sheriff’s department investigation and is charged with three counts of a school employee having sex with a student.

It’s unclear if Tibbs has an attorney.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Holcomb told the TimesDaily of Florence that Tibbs was arrested at his home late last week and confessed to the accusations.
