North Alabama Educator Expected To Resign
RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Franklin County Board of Education members say they’re expecting a physical education teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student to resign.
Superintendent Gary Williams told the TimesDaily of Florence (http://bit.ly/1arIxTL) they’re expecting to accept the resignation of Sonny Tibbs during their meeting Thursday night. Williams says the district posted a job opening for his position and are looking to fill it within seven days.
Tibbs taught physical education and coached girls track at Vina High School. He was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Tibbs has been on paid leave since mid-November.
Williams says the case against him is still under investigation.
