No Shave November Fundraiser
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A fundraiser for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital meant some men put down their razors for November.
District Attorney John Weddle organized the area’s second annual “No Shave November.” Weddle encouraged men to let their beards grow, and set aside money they would have spent on razors and shaving cream.
All participants met this evening at Weddle’s office to celebrate the end of the month, and the fundraiser.
All money collected will go to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“You see the impact these childhood illnesses have on children, but then you turn around and see the impact St Jude has been able to have because of the high cure rate they have and work they do, it’s a great cause to be involved in,” Weddle said.
” Seventy five percent of our donations come from the public, from private contributions, like events like this and we are so thankful because St Jude is truly changing the way the world treats , defeats childhood cancer,” said Allison Tonsing, of ALSAC.
Weddle says he will have a third “No Shave November” next year. The annual St Jude half marathon and marathon takes place this weekend in Memphis.
