PERKINSTON, Miss. (WCBI) — EMCC is headed south for the winter.
The No. 3 ranked Lions football team accepted a bid to play in the 2016 Mississippi Bowl on Tuesday versus No. 13 Kilgore College out of Texas. The Mississippi Bowl will be played on Sunday, December 4th at 2:00pm at A.L. May Memorial Stadium in Perkinston, Mississippi. The stadium is on the campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
This will be the third time in the last four years EMCC will play in the Mississippi Bowl. The previous two trips, the Lions won and in the process took home the National Championship.
This year, EMCC will play for bragging rights as the Lions finished behind No. 1 Garden City and No. 2 Arizona Western. The top two teams will play for the National Championship in the El Toro Bowl.
EMCC finished the season riding a 10-game winning streak and completed their run in the playoffs with their third MACJC State Title in four years by defeating No. 4 Northwest for the second time this year.
