Video: New West Alabama Mayors To Be Sworn-in

MILLPORT, Ala. (WCBI) – Several west Alabama towns will swear-in a new mayor on Monday night.

Marva Gipson has been on the Aliceville board for more than 30 years.

She will become the first female and the first African-American to serve as mayor.

Her opponent dropped out of the race, giving her the job.

In Millport, Stan Allred will be sworn-in as the Lamar County town’s next mayor.

Allred defeated incumbent Icie Wriley.

Kennedy will also swear-in Rose McDaniel. She will be the town’s first female mayor.
