New sheriff elected in Noxubee County

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A former Noxubee County chief deputy will have a new badge and a new title in January.

Tommy Roby won nearly 62% of the votes Tuesday night.

He defeated incumbent and two-term Sheriff Terry Grassaree.

Roby has been at the Macon Police Department for three years.

He’s also the Noxubee County School District’s Assistant School Security Chief.

The Noxubee County native said he’s ready to get to work and hear from residents.

“We are going to work with all the local agencies. We’re going to work with all citizens and let them know we have an open door, whether you voted for Officer Roby or not. We still want to work with you. If you have any ideas that will help the county move forward, we are willing to listen,” said sheriff-elect Roby.

Roby has been in law enforcement for 23 years.

He will take the oath of office in January.
