Video: New Risers Installed At Bancorpsouth Arena
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Work is wrapping up on renovations to part of the Bancorpsouth Arena.
For the past month, the seats in the lower risers have been removed, and new electric risers and seats are being installed.
The old seats were original to the building, which was opened in 1993 and had become tough to clean and were worn out.
The arena’s executive director says maintaining the seats and the building is important.
“Our mission is to attract people to Tupelo, bring visitors to town and help enhance economic impact and quality of life for the citizens. So we have been able to do that averaging between 250,000 and 300,000 people a year attending the different events we host.” said Todd Hunt, executive director of the Bancorpsouth Arena.
Future plans call for the seat bottoms in the upper portion to be replaced. The arena and conference will eventually be connected. The new risers will be in place for WWE this Sunday.
