New Police Officers for Columbus, Starkville & Monroe Co
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Local law enforcement agencies now have a few more brave men and women to serve the community. A commencement ceremony was held at the Trotter Convention Center in downtown Columbus tonight in honor 13 new part-time police officers. The officers will serve in the Columbus, Monroe County Sheriff and Starkville Police departments. They completed nine weeks of training, four days a week and are now required to serve at least 12 hours a month. Awards for Highest Academics, Highest Driver’s Training and Highest Firearms were also recognized during the ceremony.
