Video: New Free Statewide Hearing Impaired Program
[bitsontherun ExH9XelU]COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-A free statewide service can improve the quality of life for the hearing impaired. The Mississippi Relay Service picks up tones that often are difficult to detect by those who are hard of hearing. It also uses voice detection technology to print conversations on a screen that can be easily read by the listener. Services also are designed to help the non-hearing impaired talk with those who are. The service is free and is funded by a 47-cent monthly surcharge added to phone bills in the state.
