New Director Takes Over at Main Street Aberdeen
ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — Aberdeen has turned to a homegrown product to make the most of its down home charm.
Ann Tackett took over this week as director of Main Street Aberdeen, replacing long-time director Glenn Houston who retired after 22 years.
Tackett says Building on the momentum the community has generated with downtown building renovations and other projects, Tackett already has a long list of ideas to lure even more visitors back to the historic center city and surrounding areas. Those include a fall Scarecrow Trail, a return of the ChiliFest and an expanded holiday open house.
“We want to get volunteers, get the city support and keep our Main Street beautiful and kind of revitalize our community. That’s my focus right there,” Tackett said.
Tackett owned a flower shop downtown years ago and will continue her job overseeing the Tenn-Tom Moving Youth program.
