New Deadline For Bus Service

COLUMBUS, MS (WCBI) Operators of a proposed Columbus bus service have been given an extension to have buses in town and picking up passengers.

Lawrence Transit System now has until August 26th to make good on its plan to run 5 different routes through the city. The new bus line was scheduled to start service next week but says work on some required bus shelters has not been finished so the routes could not be run.

Columbus leaders say Lawrence must be in place over the next 17 days in order for the city to allow the buses to run.
